What does a social robot cost?
A social robot typically starts at EUR 5,000 and can exceed EUR 20,000. This is purely the hardware cost and does not include the core application that enables the robot to perform its tasks.
Hardware is a fixed cost within the project, whereas software development is variable and depends on the requirements of the organisation. Once you have chosen a robot model, the software needs to be configured, and that typically matches or exceeds the hardware cost.

Interaction with a social robot happens verbally (the robot answers a question or delivers a presentation) and via touch (the robot is equipped with an interactive tablet); more advanced social robots can also communicate with gestures and movements, and move around thanks to their built-in sensors.
