Introduction
Welcome to the 3D Modeling in Fusion 360 course! In this chapter, we will describe what this course is about.😉 We'll skip explaining the general principles of 3D modeling and the different types of software (eg CAD vs. direct modeling or sculpting), where Fusion 360 ranks among other options on the market, and why it's so good. It's probably safe to assume that if you've purchased this course, you've already made up your mind.🙂
Sketches
In this lesson, we will explore the sketching process in detail. It's arguably the most important lesson in the entire course: a sketch is the foundation of almost any 3D model. Whenever something goes wrong in your 3D modeling efforts, chances are the problem is somewhere in the sketch. And if you want to improve your 3D modeling skills, it's always a good idea to focus on developing your sketching skills. Not to worry though - as you'll see, basic sketching in Fusion 360 is actually very easy and intuitive. However, there is a lot of room for further improvement in terms of efficiency and control over your draft.
Changing bodies
In this lesson, we'll finally move into the third dimension and learn how to create solid 3D objects, or in Fusion 360 terminology, bodies. All the necessary tools are found in the Create and Modify segments of the toolbar drop-down menus. In this chapter, we'll start with the tools in the Create section. As you can see, the menu offers many options. As in the previous lesson, we will not go through all of them in detail, and instead of going strictly from top to bottom, we will try to group similar tools together.
Changing bodies
In this lesson, we'll explore the Modify drop-down menu.
Simple projects
In this lesson, you can review everything you've learned so far on more elaborate practical examples.
Final steps and conclusion
No matter how careful you were during the modeling process, it's always a good idea to inspect your model in detail before you consider it complete and export it for 3D printing. In fact, it doesn't hurt to inspect it continuously throughout the modeling process.
