Technology is the future, and people must be prepared for the future. This is one of the reasons why Logiscool Făgăraș launched robotics courses for children.

And how could the courses be presented better than with the help of a robot?!

About Logiscool Făgăraș

Logiscool is a programming school for kids with locations in over 25 countries. In Romania there are 50 locations where over 30,000 children have learned programming.

The teaching methodology is based on interconnected modules. As students progress from module to module, they acquire new programming concepts and apply previously acquired skills.

The beginning of 2022 marked the opening of a new school in Făgăraș. Andrei and Ioana Cârligeanu (the managers of the school) founded it out of their passion for technology and the desire to prepare young people for the jobs of the future.

Logiscool Făgăraș campaigns for the digital literacy of children, as well as for opening their horizons to digital skills.

In addition to other courses in the program, the school in Făgăraș added robotics courses in September 2022. Thus, children will build different pieces of hardware that they will be able to bring to life through programming.

Challenges encountered

Considering the short period since its opening until now, the school is still making considerable efforts to increase its notoriety in Făgăraș and the surrounding towns.

The goal is to make this school known to as many parents as possible and, more than that, to make them aware of the opportunities that Logiscool offers in the development of their children. This brings us to the connection between the launch of robotics courses and Pepper Robot.

The management of Logiscool Făgăraș was looking for a method to arouse children's passion for robotics and programming, as well as to increase the participation rate at the launch event.

In addition, we wanted to strengthen the enthusiasm for programming of the current students, as it is known that children often give up an activity if they get bored with it.

Logiscool programming courses are educational, but also fun by nature.

How to arouse children's passion for robotics?

With a robot as real as it is friendly and fascinating!

We were extremely excited about the idea that some children could develop their skills thanks to Pepper, and we prepared an unforgettable experience for them.

What Pepper did in Robotics classes:

He welcomed the children into the classroom
and provided them with valuable information through short and educational speeches.
He danced, took selfies, gave hugs and kisses to all the children.

, to make children understand how it is programmed to do all these actions.

Part of the IRIS Robotics team was present on August 13 at Logiscool Făgăraș to take part in the event dedicated to the launch of robotics courses.

Pepper's results at the event

Once at the location, Pepper greeted the children, told them about the robotics classes and answered their questions in a more or less funny way. Obviously, Pepper's well-known dance moves, hugs or kisses offered from time to time could not be missing either.

Fascinated by the presence of the robot, the children gathered around him trying to discover all his "secrets". Things were much clearer to them once they witnessed Pepper's presentation. They thus found out which sensors, speakers, cameras and motors are integrated into the hardware and how they help it to speak, recognize those around it or move.

Moreover, they understood how Pepper is programmed and the fact that if they dedicate themselves enough, they will be able to program such robots in the future.

Groups of children in various age groups came in rotation to meet Pepper. The event was full of wonder, joy, laughter and excitement. The fascination was present both in the children and in the parents who accompanied them.

In the end, they went home eager to start robotics classes, understanding the possibilities that may open up for them in the future.
