Add-ons for Original Prusa MK4S:
MMU3 (Multi-Material Unit 3)
Original Prusa MK4S can be upgraded with an optional add-on that allows the single extruder printer to print with up to 5 colors (or materials) simultaneously. Load the five colors of your choice, slice the object in PrusaSlicer, start printing, and MMU3 will take care of the rest.
With all-new plastic parts, hardened metal parts and firmware built from the ground up, the MMU3 delivers amazing multi-material printing, faster and more efficiently than the competition. With 25-35 seconds per filament change and optimized nozzle cleaning, prints are beautiful, fast and reliable, without worrying about cleaning up wasted filament debris around the printer.
The MMU3 is up to three times more efficient in managing filament waste compared to other single-nozzle multi-material systems, delivering substantial cost savings.
Compatibility with high-flow nozzle
The high flow nozzle in the MK4S allows for much faster printing. However, when using the MMU3, the standard nozzle becomes more practical. Why? Although the MMU3 works well with the high flow nozzle, the increased volumetric flow leads to more filament waste during printing. In other words, the MMU3 provides the best performance, same speed, and highest efficiency (with the least waste) when used with the standard nozzle in both the MK4 and MK4S.
If you order a separate MMU3 for the MK4S, it will come with the standard nozzle. In the MK4S/MMU3 package you will receive both nozzles - both the standard and high flow nozzles. For assembled MK4S bundled with MMU3, the standard nozzle will be pre-installed on the printer as a default option.
