About the customer

Located right in the center of Tbilisi (Georgia), City Mall has the largest variety of shops. With an area of 120,000 square meters, the mall hosts more than 200 shops, more than 20 restaurants and up to 30,000 visitors daily. As a major player in the Georgian market, City Mall offers its visitors unique experiences using various technologies to enhance customer experiences.

Customer challenges

In the e-commerce-driven world where people enjoy shopping at their leisure, most malls face challenges to drive foot traffic, increase brand awareness and provide a unique, personalized shopping experience.

The pandemic and increased safety measures have particularly affected malls. The main challenge is to improve the overall experience to attract more customers and keep them interested in order to convert them into buyers.

To make the shopping experience unique and memorable, City Mall has made the choice to build a happy relationship and emotional attachment with shoppers.

As a market leader, they believe that humanoid business/social bots are one of the most powerful digital channels that help them meet their expectations and elevate the consumer shopping experience to another level.

Therefore, after a market study of Georgian consumers related to people's opinion about robots, they were convinced and thus confirmed their choice to implement robots in their business.

The Solution

Pepper operated at City Mall, Georgia before the New Year (2020) when people are in a shopping rush. The Solution - Covid Shopping - was created exclusively by City Mall and included features such as:
  • Pepper wore a thermal camera for Body Temperature Scanning activated on his arm along with Mask Detection.
  • Provided information about mall regulations and parking rules.
  • Pepper also had mall map integrated in its app and could help customers find the stores or locations they wanted.

Results

The challenge was to encourage consumers to follow the new COVID regulations and raise awareness. The objectives were met, below are the results:
  • Attracted media attention as an effective tool to combat COVID-19 on opening day

  • Helped fight COVID-19 by encouraging customers to follow safety measures and spread awareness

Pepper in the malls in Romania?

Besides being a powerful marketing tool, Pepper can be seen as a good employee in any business.

What makes it suitable in any industry is its great openness to implementing custom functions and applications.

As you saw in the case of the mall in Georgia, Pepper was adapted to the context and wore a digital thermometer on his arm that took people's temperatures.

Just as well, it could have integrated card payment on a device, for example, and used in one of the stores to reduce the infernal queues at busy times.
